Q Project 1 Preparation Overview The discussion boards for this course will let you get feedback and share with your classmates about the work you are doing on your projects. For this week's discussion, please read the instructions for Video/DVD Analysis Project 1. You will be able to click on the assignment to see what you need to complete, however, you will not be able to submit the assignment until next week. Video_DVD Analysis Project 1.docx download For your Initial Post due by Thursday 11:59 PM: Identify a video/DVD (from YouTube or elsewhere). Post the name and/or link in your discussion post. Provide highlights of your video/DVD (What is the video about? Clarity is important!) You may select a video of your choice (drama, comedy, documentary, home video etc.). Video clips (10-15 minutes) are preferred, but not required. Do not select videos that focus on Marx, Goffman or Durkheim. Why? Because you must use Marx, Goffman and Durkheim to analyze your video. Discuss/Explain which paradigm (social conflict, functionalism or symbolic interaction) is most represented in your video/DVD. Here, you may need to review the power-point, "What is Sociology" --- this will provide a clear understanding of the paradigms. For your Response to at least 2 classmates due by Sunday, 11:59 PM: Ask for clarification (that is, ask questions) if needed. If you have seen the video before, share your own ideas about it. Ask 2-3 questions you have about either the content or the paradigm of the video to help your classmate in their project analysis next week.
